Ingredients you'll need

  • For the Shredded Tofu:
    • 200g firm tofu
    • 1 tbsp soy sauce
    • 1 tsp five spice (or your favorite spice mix)
    • Salt to taste
    • 1/2 tbsp oil
  • For the Glaze:
    • 4 tbsp hoisin sauce
    • Juice of 1/2 lime
    • 2 tbsp water
  • For the Curried Slaw:
    • 1/2 small pointed cabbage
    • A good handful cilantro, chopped
    • Juice of 1/2 lime
    • 1 tsp maple syrup
    • 1 tsp curry powder
    • Salt to taste
    • 2 tbsp vegan mayo
  • Let's get cookin'

    1. Pat tofu dry, shred with grater
    2. Mix shredded tofu with soy sauce, five spice, salt, and oil
    3. Bake at 180°C for 25 minutes stirring occasionally
    4. For the glaze: bring hoisin sauce, lime juice, and water to a bubble in a pan. Glaze the shredded tofu after baking
    5. or the curried slaw: thinly slice the pointed cabbage. Add chopped cilantro, lime juice, maple syrup, curry powder, salt, and vegan mayo to the cabbage. Mix well (works best with your hands)
    6. Serve the glazed tofu with curried slaw on tacos
